World’s Best Defense.
By: Luis Felipe | August 16th, 2007No, I’m not exaggerating. No, I’m not a crazy supporter, mm…might be, but until someone proves me wrong, I’ll keep saying it: actually, São Paulo has the best defense in the world.
‘We’ve just finished the first half of Brasileiro, 19 matches of 38 were played. At this point, the other teams scored against us only 7 times. Yes, 7 incredible goals. In order to compare, on Brasileiro 2006 (which we won), we finished the championship with 32 goals in 38 matches, as the best defense too. Among the European clubs last season the best defenses finished its national tournaments like this: Porto (16), Chelsea (22) and Juventus (24). Remembering that the Portuguease championship had only 34 matches and the Italian championship….well, you know what happened with Juventus.
So WTF is happening?
The goal average is ridiculous? No. It’s true that at this point last year, the Brasileiro had a little bit better goal average, but if compared with recent past years the championship is following the rule in number of goals.
The strikers are as good as a OffSide writer trying to score? Not either. Until now, Josiel from Paraná Clube is the best striker, with 12 goals. (You guys take off the eyes of him…he´s not this much). If compared with last year we may say that´s ok, when Souza from Goiás finished the tournament as the best striker with only 17 goals, and in 2005 when Romário, the man and the myth, scored 22 goals. Too much if we consider he use to play only when he wasn’t doing something funnier, like playing BeachSoccer.
WHO ARE THE RESPONSIBLES?
So, here they are. You´ll hear about this guys soon, in fact, Alex Silva (Luizão´s Brother) is already playing for Brazil, and I think all of them won´t last too much in São Paulo. Unfortunately. I´ve heard about Fiorentina holding talks with Breno…let´s wait and see.

By the way: 15/08 -Figueirense 2 x 2 São Paulo - Copa Sulamericana. Next match, at home, 23/08. The winner faces Boca Juniors.
Next match for Brasileiro: 19/08 - Goiás x São Paulo

I not a São Paulo fan but I’ve always admired this team great structure and planning.
And I have a friend from Scotland who visited São Paulo’s quarters last year. He said the people there are the nicest guys around.
And this blog is great.
Congrats.Posted from

Oh! I am really sorry mate!
Sao Paulo is still the best one, but unfortunately a really poor team which is going to relegation beat Sao Paulo’s best in the world defense.
So now, we have a change of scene, Sao Paulo has not beaten Corinthians for 1,5 years.
Cheers bambies!
