São Paulo 3 x 1 Sport Recife
By: Luis Felipe | July 27th, 2007
In a match to overcome obstacles, São Paulo beat Sport Recife last night at the Morumbi Stadium with a 3 x 1 score. Just like the last match, against Cruzeiro, São Paulo had to search for its best in order to control the game after taking a goal in the first half. With this victory, we´re reaching the second spot on table (25 points), just behind Botafogo which has 28 points, and we´re also keeping a taboo: never lost a match against Sport Recife at Morumbi, 11 games, 11 victories. Weldon scored for Sport Recife, and Leandro, Souza and our goallie Rogerio Ceni scored for us.
THE PLOT
The first half was guided by a poor quality game, favored by the low efficiency of São Paulo’s attack and by the rubbish team of Sport. Not meaning that their players are horrible, but if you wonder one day “Oh, where is that player I once heard about…?” The answer probably will be Sport Recife. Gustavo, Rosembrick, Washington and finally Adriano Gabiru, who scored that historical goal for Internacional against Barcelona in the FIFA Club Cup final match last year, compose the team.
When the match was showing an oxo appearence for the first half, Weldon scored in a mistake of São Paulo’s defense. On the second half we came back better, and at 48′ Leandro scored for São Paulo in a beautiful work of attack. Seven minutes later Souza scored one more for São Paulo with a good shot from inside the box. Finally at 36′, the keeper Rogério Ceni scored a beautiful goal from a free kick, his 74th goal on career. And that´s all.
