This saturday, at 18:10 we´ll be facing Santos at Morumbi Stadium. Remembering that playing against Santos, for the first half of Brasileiro, we won by 0 x 2. Now we´re ready to do a larger score…I hope. Hehehe…

So dear folks, another round is gone and it wasn´t different. I mean, it was, because this time São Paulo scored a half “Brazilian egg-pack”: São Paulo 6 x 0 Paraná. With this victory, we´re reaching the 11th match without a negative result, and the 7th withtout suffering a goal. That´s really incredible. It seems our attack has found its way to score regularly too: 12 goals on the last three matches.

.

São Paulo 6 x 0 Paraná, Goals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q38GtTo0PY0

(Aloísio 27′/67′, Dagoberto 33′/62′, Souza 37′, Leandro 78′)

On this wednesday night we´ll be defending our invecibility against Atlético Mineiro at Mineirão Stadium.

RUMORS, BUT I THINK YOU CAN WRITE IT.

Somesay Nilmar, Corinthians striker who has been in the center of a controversy involving the Brazilian Club, Lyon, MSI and FIFA, is already a São Paulo player. He´s saying to some close friends that he´s arriving to a (unknown) Brazilian club just to hang the Brasileiro trophy by the end of the year.

May be only an excellent investiment for São Paulo, considering it will be very hard to hold him until the end of Libertadores 2008. If he plays what he can, he´ll be very soon in a European Club.

Here we go with some nicknames of São Paulo’s players. Most of them given by the midfield Souza and related with Brazilian famous people.

-Luciano Huck, a teenager Tv show man, and the goal keeper Rogério Ceni. It’s the most commented comparison. They even changed places once in order to confuse everybody: Luciano Huck entered in the field with São Paulo team and Rogério presented it’s Tv show.-Bosco (second goal keeper): “The Surfist”.

-Maguila, the Brazilian pugilist, and the striker Aloísio. If you hear both of them talking, you won’t be able to say who is who.

-Alex Silva or, “The Lollypop”. Don’t ask me why.

-André Dias: “Tonho da Lua”. Used to say that someone is crazy, or seems to be.

-The Grumpy and the coach Muricy Ramalho. I guess all coaches are like this. Nothing is good enough for all of them.

-Leci Brandão, Brazilian samba singer, and Júnior. This is the nick I love the most…. haha…it’s hilarious.

-Zé Bonitinho, a Brazilian old humorist, and Souza. This one I think is just because he’s the player who makes joke about the other ones.

-And that’s all. Ah, by the way: São Paulo 1 x 1 Figueirense, we passed it and we’ll face Boca Juniors soon. On Brasileiro we’ll be meeting Náutico next sunday at home, Morumbi Stadium. São Paulo 1 x 1 Figueirense, you REALLY need to see the goalkeeper Rogério Ceni’s long pass to São Paulo’s attack. Unbelievable.

No, I’m not exaggerating. No, I’m not a crazy supporter, mm…might be, but until someone proves me wrong, I’ll keep saying it: actually, São Paulo has the best defense in the world.

‘We’ve just finished the first half of Brasileiro, 19 matches of 38 were played. At this point, the other teams scored against us only 7 times. Yes, 7 incredible goals. In order to compare, on Brasileiro 2006 (which we won), we finished the championship with 32 goals in 38 matches, as the best defense too. Among the European clubs last season the best defenses finished its national tournaments like this: Porto (16), Chelsea (22) and Juventus (24). Remembering that the Portuguease championship had only 34 matches and the Italian championship….well, you know what happened with Juventus.

So WTF is happening?

The goal average is ridiculous? No. It’s true that at this point last year, the Brasileiro had a little bit better goal average, but if compared with recent past years the championship is following the rule in number of goals.

The strikers are as good as a OffSide writer trying to score? Not either. Until now, Josiel from Paraná Clube is the best striker, with 12 goals. (You guys take off the eyes of him…he´s not this much). If compared with last year we may say that´s ok, when Souza from Goiás finished the tournament as the best striker with only 17 goals, and in 2005 when Romário, the man and the myth, scored 22 goals. Too much if we consider he use to play only when he wasn’t doing something funnier, like playing BeachSoccer.

WHO ARE THE RESPONSIBLES?

So, here they are. You´ll hear about this guys soon, in fact, Alex Silva (Luizão´s Brother) is already playing for Brazil, and I think all of them won´t last too much in São Paulo. Unfortunately. I´ve heard about Fiorentina holding talks with Breno…let´s wait and see.

By the way: 15/08 -Figueirense 2 x 2 São Paulo - Copa Sulamericana. Next match, at home, 23/08. The winner faces Boca Juniors.

Next match for Brasileiro: 19/08 - Goiás x São Paulo

Done it. (Claps) On this monday, the German club Wolfsburg signed with the player in a negotiation of about U$2m for an unknow-how-many-seasons-contract (I guess 4). Besides finding the ex-São Paulo teammate Mineiro (Hertha Berlin), Josué may share the field with another Brazilian player: Marcelinho Paraíba, who also defended São Paulo once. With this transference, we probably gonna loose the team´s engine-man, who´s also known for its excellent “disarms”, stopping opponents attacks. Good luck folk.

FIRST ONE ON TABLE

By kicking Botafogo and Atlético Paranaense asses, both for a 2 x 0 score, São Paulo reached the top of the table with 7 points more than the second team, Botafogo, which still has one game less. It seems now that our attack is taking a good shape, scoring regularly match by match. Coincidence or not, Aloísio, São Paulo main striker is at the medical departament since few weeks ago due to an injury. Next sunday São Paulo faces Goiás, opening the second turn of Brasileiro…let´s wait and see, cause the first turn we´ve already won.

Yes old folks. Last sunday, the glorious tricolor Paulista beat poor Grêmio by 0 x 2 at their home. This victory, combined with the Botafogo´s draw (0×0), put São Paulo at the top of the table with 34 points, against 32 points of the carioca team, who has one match less than the tricolor. But there´s no problem because in the next round we´ll be meeting Botafogo in order to confirm our isolated leadership.

THE PLOT

In a very cold night in the Brazil´s south, São Paulo didn´t give Grêmio a chance to greet his supporters, and scored at 2′. A good pass from Souza to Borges was enough to destroy the offside line of Grêmio´s defense, and the striker put the ball where we like too see. That was all in the first half. In the final time, São Paulo´s defenders were really tested, and had to work hard in order to hold Grêmio´s attack. A counter-attack was inevitable: at 18′ Borges lost a incredible goal face to face with Grêmio´s keeper but, at 42′ Diego Tardelli didn´t commit the same mistake and scored. Grêmio 0, São Paulo leader 2. Dance Grêmio, dance…

São Paulo 3 x 1 Juventude. One more time São Paulo won a match despite Juventude scoring a goal in the first minutes of the game. São Paulo proved to have an excellent reaction power and we definitively can call it “O Time da Virada”, something like “The Team of the Comebacks”. With a trap strategy, Cláudio Duarte (Juventude’s coach) tried to stop São Paulo´s attack by applying a strong defensive work and taking advantage of the counter-attacks. It worked, at 2′ Juventude scored in a mistake of our defenders.

That´s all they did. Juventude tried to hold on to the score, but at 31′ Miranda scored a beautiful goal for
São Paulo. On the second half, Borges scored with a header at 62′, and five minutes later Hugo received the ball from Souza and scored one more, kissing the widower and sealing the victory. Next Sunday, São Paulo will be hitting foreign field against Grêmio.

Distrusting this Championship…

As if it wasn´t enough someone to put a referee trio from Rio de Janeiro to work in São Paulo yesterday match, we also received the news that Dodô, Botafogo’s striker, was declared innocent of a doping accusation. This is ridiculous. Dodô´s blood test accused the use of femproporex and also anphetamine, and a second test confirmed the serious sportive infraction. CBF had suspended the player preventively for 30 days, but yesterday the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva, who decides these cases, set Dodô as innocent. So he can play again, he won´t be punished and, Botafogo won´t lose points.

We would like to remember that a few months ago, Alex Alves from Juventude was caught in doping case, condemned and suspended by the use of sibutramine, a simple substance if compared with Dodô´s doping results, in a case which was proved the fault of the drug lab. Now it is another situation, but a very tendencious STJD court, which includes Botafogo´s council members, decided different.

Nonsense. I think just OffSide writers are enough to follow a football matches stoned.
